Heres why. People who dont achieve their goals usually do so because of two very related reasonsâ€"even though they might think they did their best. The first is the goal was set for something they didn’t truly love. The second is they didn’t do everything that was necessary to achieve the goal. When they fail, the first question they typically ask themselves is, “ Did I give it my best?” If so, no regret. Check. Everything is fine. Check. Let’s move on with life. Check. Now they’re on their way to another goal they’re unlikely to achieve. Why? We’ll get to that in a moment. Let’s assume for the sake of argument that you actually set the goal for something you would give your next born to accomplish. It’s your true love. Can’t go an entire day without thinking about this goal. If you truly love something and didnt achieve that significant goal related to it, I suggest a different approach. Instead of asking whether you gave it your best, ask yourself What was I unwilling to do to achieve the goal? You’ll have your answer. Just had to have that new sweater? Couldn’t finish that book you wanted to write? Couldn’t wake up an hour earlier every day for an entire year? Didn’t look hard enough for a publisher? Didn’t qualify as a first chair violinist concertmaster? You weren’t willing to keep practicing until you couldn’t make a mistake? You get the idea. Please don’t misconstrue my message. It makes no difference to me whether you’re unwilling to sacrifice time, sleep, and so on. It’s your life and you are the master of your happiness. Why would I do it myself when I know that is not my strength? The money I would save doing it myself is not worth the headache that a do-it-yourself-haircut would give me. So, I choose to hire a professional. Why wouldn’t you do the same thing when you are writing your resume? If it doesn’t happen to be your forte and you know there is someone out there who is trained, competent, and provides an excellent service, why wouldn’t you hire that person? It’s not cheating â€" it’s having the good sense to know the best option means enlisting someone else’s services. Hire a professional.

What can I do? Larry, Have you filed for unemployment benefits? (I talked with Larry and he did not think he was eligible.) When you are fired with cause, you are not eligible for unemployment benefits based on your previous employer. Here is the catch, your previous employer is now Starbucks. In the state of Texas and most other states, unemployment benefits are based on your previous employer. Your benefits will be based on 9 months of earnings, not including the current quarter and the previous quarter. If you ever lose your job with cause, immediately register with a temporary agency and see if you can get a short-term assignment. Have you applied for food stamps? This is part of TANF or Temporary Assistance for Needy Families. (His answer was no because he thought it was people worse of than him.) I would rather see you apply for government assistance than dip into your retirement savings. I know this is humbling to think that you need to do this but it does not hurt to go see if you are eligible. What Issues Are You Encountering?
